From Adversity to Purpose: Marlon Medina Opens Up About Building a Media Empire and Fighting for Justice

Las Vegas, NV – In a powerful and deeply personal episode of El Proceso hosted by Robert Hernandez, entrepreneur and filmmaker Marlon A. Medina shared the raw, unfiltered story behind Golden Medina Services, his journey from advertising outsider to leading a full-scale video production and marketing agency, and how a family crisis transformed his entire approach to business and life.

What began as a casual conversation quickly evolved into one of the most authentic discussions on purpose-driven entrepreneurship heard in recent memory. Medina didn’t talk about quick wins or viral hacks; instead, he laid bare the moments that redefined him.

“Everything changed the day I discovered there was an abuser in my family,” Medina revealed. “All the business goals, the revenue targets; they went out the window. Suddenly, success wasn’t about lifestyle anymore. It was about building enough freedom and resources to pursue justice for victims who had no voice.”

That pivotal moment became the driving force behind both his agency’s growth and his passionate advocacy work with organizations fighting child exploitation and trafficking. “Seeing victims heal, even just 5% more than the month before; that brings me more joy than closing any deal,” he shared. “When you’ve sat with people whose lives have been shattered, a flooded office or a lost contract doesn’t hit the same. You learn what’s actually worth getting upset about.”

From humble beginnings freelancing in advertising in 2017, Medina organically grew Golden Medina Services into a go-to media powerhouse strategically located steps from the Las Vegas Convention Center. What started as contracting videographers for short-form product videos evolved into an in-house team producing high-impact commercials, brand campaigns, and strategic content for clients ranging from NBA athletes to major convention exhibitors.

Alongside the agency, Medina co-founded The Reel Fleet, a filmmaker development initiative with partner Lee Cummings that trains emerging Las Vegas talent; many of whom have already earned awards at local film festivals. “This city has the energy, the locations, and now we’re building the talent pipeline.”

When asked about the future, Medina’s vision is clear: “We’re locking in relationships, especially in sports and entertainment. The goal isn’t to be an option; it’s to be the option. When brands come to Vegas for major events, we want them to say, ‘Call Golden Medina; they deliver every time.’”

Throughout the conversation, one theme dominated: purpose over profit.

“People get burnt out creating content for views or chasing trends,” Medina observed. “But when your work is tied to a real ‘why’; whether that’s protecting your family, lifting your community, or giving victims hope; authenticity flows naturally. And in a world flooded with AI-generated noise, authenticity is the only thing that still moves people.”

The episode closed with a powerful exchange on gratitude, resilience, and the quiet strength that emerges from life’s hardest trials. As Medina put it: “Some people look unbreakable because life hit them so hard with the chisel that they had no choice but to become marble.”

For entrepreneurs searching for more than the next revenue milestone, Marlon A. Medina’s story serves as both inspiration and blueprint: build a strong business, yes; but never lose sight of the deeper reason you’re building it.
